What does this message mean no render is selected please select one?

that is happend when i was running agame and there was aproplem before that and it was eax.dll file was missed and when i download it into system 32 the above mentioned message appearWhat does this message mean no render is selected please select one?
it usually comes when you have not selected any particular rendering engine (opengl or directx) for rendering the game onto the screen.
