It stopped a poltical party from trying to overturn the results of the people by selecting only certain counties where they had good results to recount.
Was the SCOTUS decision an important step to check the renegade Florida SC and make sure elections are decided by all the people and not just by a pick and choose format that the Gore team tried? Was Bush v. Gore the best decision the US Supreme's ever rendered?
The American voters voted for Al Gore for president. The Florida vote was a disaster that could decide the Electoral College vote and therefore the presidential election.
Bush v. Gore was one of the worst Supreme Court decisions ever and the country has suffered as a result of it. The decision itself states that it has no value as a precedent for any subsequent case and it was very wrongly decided. If the US Supreme Court had ordered a state-wide recount, Gore would have been president.
Edit: You are absolutely wrong. The NORC recount showed that Gore would have won the Florida vote. Look it up!Was Bush v. Gore the best decision the US Supreme's ever rendered?
Yes it is. There is no doubt that the democrats wanted to keep counting votes until they won. After all, democrats are masters at stealing elections (Daley's dad in Chicago in the 60s) and now Bill Daley was attempting to steal the election in Florida.
The result has been the Bush Presidency, and although Bush made some mistakes (a little to friendly to to the illegals and the Bailout at the end of his term) overall Bush has been great for this country. He took on the Islamic Terrorists (and domestic terrorists) that have been completely ignored by Sleaze Ball Clinton. The USS Cole, The first World Trade Center, the embassies in Africa, the housing in Saudi Arabia, Oklahoma City, and the planning and preparation leading up to 9/11 - all under Bill Clinton's watch. BUSH ACTED WHILE CLINTON DID NOT.
The economy, Bush fixed it after 9/11. However, the scumbag Bill Clinton forced banks to give loans to DEADBEATS. Ten years later, it catches up to us.
The Supreme Court's decision in Bush v Gore was one of the best decisions ever rendered. I Could only imagine how bad this country would be if the court appointed Gore to be President.
Considering the direct results of the SC decision was:
-an illegal war in Iraq
-torture
-massive debt and deficits,
and the one you will surely love:
-the election of President Obama. Without the complete, 100% incompetence of the Bush Administration Obama would not have received the D nomination, let alone have been elected President.
Keep that in mind so that when this Republican expresses his total disdain for Bush, the SC, and the neocon loonies, you know why.
EDIT: Please link your assertion of ';reports.';
No. It was a political decision. Should have been left to the State of Florida to decide. SC stopped the recount instead of making it statewide.
The only decision the Supreme Court made was to overturn the Fl. court extension of time for the recount. Fl. gave until Nov. 14. Their Supreme Court extended it to Nov. 26.
No, but then, we have seen the destruction that decision has wrought on this country eight years later. So using that as an indicator, I would have to say it was not.
The work of activists judges the one thing Republicans hate judges who make laws. Five activists judges elected Bush.
They rendered the only decision they could based on the truth.
I bet those judges are still kicking themselves up the @ss for making such a horrible mistake .
It was a travesty that we are still paying for.
