Can a pinched nerve render an arm and hand useless?

my left arm and had are not working. 4 days now. no pain, no numbness. i can feel them - i just cannot control them or use them. does anyone have any kind of guess about possible reasons???? a few people have guessed pinched nerves but i thought that would cause pain. there is no pain...just cannot use or control arm or hand. any thoughts????? no medcal benefits for 2 more weeks!!! it does sound like a neck problem a neurologist would be the best doctor a pinch nerve can make you feel numb but not have loss of use do you have any memory lapse or anything if this is a possibility call the md
my friend recently had an issue like this. he cannot move his legs at all, and although he can feel them (he is in some pain), he absolutely cannot move them. He lost control of his arms too, but that was only for a day or so. His doctors think he has a virus in his spinal fluid.
