What kind of hardware would I need at home to render stills in high end 3D apps like Maya, Cinema 4D, etc?
Ive used apps like Bryce before and it took forever to render anything, even on my fastest PC (Pent III, 3 Mhz, 512 RAM...). I know there are many factors, but can someone give me some advice? Maybe what kind of graphics card with how much memory, etc.? Or is it only practical to render on a network? go with anything that uses an nvidia quadro GPU. They're made especially for that purpose. The more memory, the better (not less than 128MB).
Also, if you're building/buying a new computer, get one with the dual or quad core CPU. Most application like you mentioned are multi-threaded and perform multiple tasks at the same time. The multiple cores take advantage of this and will dramatically speed up the process.
Also, video cards by Matrox are good too.
Oh, it's never practical to render on a network, too slow.
PS - Ignore everyone else's suggestions for video cards and CPU's. Although, what they recommend is great for a gaming machine, you have a totally different use and the drivers used on gaming cards don't work well with your applications. You need to think more Workstation and less Gaming maching.

It is going to have to have a lot of white (the paper) showing through. The white becomes the reflected light. Painting something like a waterwall is tricky, because you have to show the wall behind the water, while leaving enough white to maintain your reflection.
Because I am not a professional, The way I would handle it, is to paint the outline of the waterwall, then lay in the color where the water is going to be, but VERY dilute, reserving white wavy lines for the water reflection. Then glaze in slightly darker for the wall, making it look like it's moving. Making the lines wavy and non uniform accomplishes this.

I was just wondering if there is a site out there that has any tutorials or something to help a friend of mine set up a unix based render farm for 3Ds Max. if its omega 3's you want... just go to walmart and get some from the vitamin section... shouldnt cost more than 10 bucks for a month's supply

I suggest using a seperate css file to write out the rules for IE6 and IE7. This way, you are guaranteed to seperate the CSS that works from the CSS that's hacked to make it work.

3. Best solution is use YUI ( Yahoo User Interface Library) too develop your site...NO BROWSER ISSUE in any browser
Generally, IE6 does not support most of the javascript and CSS codes.. So its always showing problem to viewing pages. IE7 too some problems.. And Safari and Opera its little difficult to fix browser problems...Just search code for opera and safari in google you will get solution..

Yes, My love found a dog once that was badly injured lying in the park. (We are not positive how he got hurt but we think he was hit be a car) He had a terrible gash down the side of his face, across his eye and one ear nearly torn off. The dog was taken to a vet, and patched up, he lost one eye then we found an Akita rescue to deliver him to. Last we heard of him he had a home with a guy that takes him out on his pontoon and they have a great time. Big bucks to fix a dog that was not ours and we never saw again. would we do it again? many times and if the vet doesn't donate their services i have paid as much as i can to help out. unfortunately there are many vets not willing to take a stray injured animal in, usually they just put it to sleep as its much cheaper for them...sad but true

How do you 'render' a text layer in adobe photoshop 6 to return to airbrushing?
When I work on a project and airbrush first -then throw in some text and then try to return to airbrush it says I must render the layer...I go to layers but in making changes there, I lose some of my project and can't find it again. Rendering over a Tar covered wall?
My friend wishes to Lime render her property but has found a substance on one of her walls which is like Tar. With this in mind can she Lime Render straight over it or will it require a sealant and if so what type.Rendering over a Tar covered wall?

Top left corner you want to click Device Manager
Find your camera in the manager.. and ';Disable'; it.
You will then be prompted to restart.. click yes.
Once your computer restarts.. go back to device manager and re-enable it.. should work fine after that.

The css itself looks fine. How are you calling to the style in your HTML? Is it in an external style-sheet, or is it in the HTML document itself? That's where I'd look first. If you have refered to the style sheet incorrectly then it won't render.

I'm a little new to 3ds max, and I'm trying to make a short video. Unfortunately, everywhere I look, I can't find a tutorial on how to set the render view as that camera. The main problem is that the camera has to move, so I can't just leave it in one place. All the places I try always stop right before you save it. Rendering over a Tar covered wall?
My friend wishes to Lime render her property but has found a substance on one of her walls which is like Tar. With this in mind can she Lime Render straight over it or will it require a sealant and if so what type.Rendering over a Tar covered wall?
She will have to fix chicken wire to the wall because I can't see render taking to the tar well if at all or take the tar off and I'm thinking the chicken wire would be easier.

Go down to Uninstall. And uninstall the webcam (when it asks if you want to delete the software for it, don't select the box). 2.Download/replace DirectX
3.Go to http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67297.html and download/install.
4.Go to Gateway website, download webcam driver from them.

This error means that there is a problem with installed DirectX software.
Right click on My Computer then select Properties
Top left corner you want to click Device Manager
Find your camera in the manager.. and ';Disable'; it.
You will then be prompted to restart.. click yes.
Once your computer restarts.. go back to device manager and re-enable it.. should work fine after that.
I'm also searching for answers.. because whenever I try to use the webcam with yahoo, or msm.. the camera stops working (as it has for you) and you can fix it by doing what I mentioned.. but I still cant get it to work for the chat programs..

As far as I know, computers use a program to make 3D images, you render them, and then you incorporate them in a movie. So is there a step I鈥檓 missing when I say that you should be able to make 3D images, you render them, and then you incorporate them in a video game?

Question about distributed rendering?
Can i make distributed rendering on vray or mental ray through LAN network without installing any thing on the other PCs so i can use all CPU resources of all PCs in the network to reduce rendering time without installing 3ds max, vray, mental ray or any software on any computer in my network, so the only PC that i will install this software on it is the PC that i will render from it.Question about distributed rendering?

(prepay 1st of each mnth. ds attends 3 afternoon's per wk. $500+ for Jan.) due to sorethroat 1wk, and I decided to kp ds home 2 wks to wrk w/ him on ';self control'; activities. He was having difficulty in Kindergarten, not finishing tasks and talking/socializing at inapporpriate times... disrupting class. HOME time was affective. (so far.)
Note: Issue within K class was my 1st priority. I wanted to nip-it, be proactive and get him on track asap. Reminders of ';howto'; wrked. ( I did have a concern that the childcare practices may have been giving him mixed message about how to behave in school. As it is mostly 'free play' in the afternoons. ) I am limited as to my opts, for aftschool care.How to write a request refund for services not rendered ? Childcare.?
Honestly, I would be very surprised if you recieved a refund. I have had children in daycare or after school care for 11 years now. WHen your child misses school the daycare depends on this tuition to pay for overhead expenses such as teachers, building expenses, heating/cooling etc. If the daycare returned all monies to students when they are absent, they would not make a business and not be able to provide services to any child.
The money you pay holds your spot for when you choose to return your child to daycare, and they do not give it to another family.
Believe me I understand how frustrating that can be. I just paid for a week of after school care for three children, and school was closed. (I'm a teacher and stayed home with them.) But just remember that you have a safe place available to you when you choose to send your child back to daycare.
